The Dopamine Menu
When you are bored, your IQ drops 30 points. You cannot think of what is fun. You need a pre-calculated menu of stimulation to prevent the default slide into doomscrolling.

Core Concept
Don’t go grocery shopping when you’re hungry. Don’t try to decide how to relax when you are already exhausted. Your brain will choose the path of least resistance unless you have a better option printed out and staring you in the face.

The Four Courses
Course 01
Quick Hits — Appetizers
Instant dopamine that does not trap you for hours. Good for transitions or waiting mode.
- Pet the dog or cat
- Listen to one hype song
- Eat a sour candy
- Five jumping jacks
Course 02
Deep Flow — Entrées
Activities that restore you. They need setup energy but do not leave you drained.
- Gaming (console or PC)
- Crafting or art project
- Writing or coding
- Gardening or hands-on project
Course 03
Enhancers — Sides
Add-ons that make boring tasks tolerable.
- Podcast while folding laundry
- Body double while cleaning
- Fidget toy during meetings
Course 04
High Risk — Dessert
High dopamine, zero effort. Fine in moderation. Poison as a main diet.
- TikTok / Reels scrolling
- Online shopping
- Sugar binge

Chef’s Rules
01
Dessert is not dinner. Scrolling alone will not make you feel human. You need an Entrée (flow state).
02
Prep the ingredients. Charge the controller. Keep brushes out. Friction kills the Entrée.
03
Rotate the menu. Yesterday’s dopamine can be today’s boredom. Update weekly.
Print and fill out your own menu when your dopamine is stable, not when it’s starved.
